(When forwarding Special Form as Radioactive Material Excepted Package, how should we handle the Special Form Certificate?)
Q.
When forwarding Special Form as Radioactive Material Excepted Package, DGD is not required but should we attach the Special Form Certificate to the AWB? Also, is there a need to mention on the AWB that the shipment consists of Special Form and show the Special Form Certificate number on the AWB and mention it is attached to the AWB? (31 Aug 11)
A.
At the present time there is nothing in the IAEA Regulation that require the Special Form in an Excepted Package must either have the Special Form Certificate attached, or that any reference to the Special Form and its Special Form Certificate number must be provided on the face of the AWB.

It is therefore not necessary to attach the Special Form Certificate to the AWB, and there is no need to make any reference to Special Form on the AWB. This does appear to be a gap, but that is the current situation.
