(Other than Dry Ice, please explain why other dangerous goods must not be packed in the same outer packaging with Chemical Kits according to PI 960 and PI Y960?)
Q.
Packing Instruction 960 and Y960 for Chemical Kits stipulate that other than Dry Ice, other dangerous substances must not be packed together in the same outer packaging. Is it correct to understand that ?gAll packed in one?h cannot be applied to Chemical Kits and other dangerous goods except Dry Ice? (31 Jan 11)
A.
As explained at the beginning of PI 960 and PI Y960, Chemical Kits, First Aid Kits, and Polyester Resin Kits are kits contain small quantities of various dangerous substances for the purpose of medical use, analysis, test or repair. If the kit contains other dangerous goods then the purpose of the kit will not be what it is intended for. The kit must contain only those applicable dangerous substances in small quantities to satisfy its purpose of use.

Dry ice is often used as refrigerant for the kit and is therefore permitted in the same outer packaging. No other dangerous substances can be ?gall packed in one?h with the kits. There is no restriction to overpacks provided segregation can be cleared.
