(Why was IP codes discontinued with the Inner Packagings? Why is that Aerosols still carry the IP codes?)
Q.
IP codes for inner packagings have been discontinued except for Aerosols. Is there any special action that the shipper or forwarder should take with this change? Does it mean that quality standards had been downgraded? (31 Mar 11)
A.
IP codes have been discontinued for inner packagings except for Aerosols which require stringent tests. This is to alert the shippers that Aerosols must satisfy these tests. For other inner packagings, a verbal description of their construction and quality is spelled out in the DGR.

There has been no change to the level of quality of all inner packagings. The absence of IP codes do not mean that their quality have been degraded.
