(When loading passenger?fs oxygen bottle as checked baggage, do we have to segregate it against other dangerous cargo shipments?)
Q.
When a passenger checks in his/her medical oxygen bottle as checked baggage, is it necessary to be segregated against other dangerous cargo on the flight? If so, would the same segregation distance apply as ROX against RFL? (31 Mar 11)
A.
Medical oxygen bottle of a passenger is of a small volume, i.e., max 5 kgG, but it is still a dangerous goods. When accepted as checked baggage, it must be segregated against other dangerous goods per Table 9.3.A. It must not be loaded in the same cargo compartment with Explosives other than 1.4S, Class 3 and Division 4.2. Maintain minimum segregation distance of 3 meters.
