(Please explain how to enter the quantity of UN 3072 Life-saving appliances, not self-inflating on the DGD.)
Q.
When shipping UN 3072 Life-saving appliances, not self-inflating, the DGR states to enter the gross weight followed with a letter G. How do I enter the quantity of dangerous goods contained in the life-saving appliances? By gross weight? Or, by net weight? (30 Jun 11)
A.
As stipulated in 8.1.6.9.2 Step 6. (d) 3., the gross weight must be entered for articles.

After packing the life-saving appliances strictly following stipulations spelled out in Packing Instruction 955, the shipper must weigh the finished package and enter the gross weight followed with the letter G on the DGD as xxx kg G. There is no need to show the quantity of individual dangerous goods contained in the appliance.
