(Please explain how to enter the quantity of UN 3166 Engine, internal combustion, flammable liquid powered on the DGD.)
Q.
When shipping UN 3166 Engine, internal combustion, flammable liquid powered, DGR says to enter the gross weight followed with a letter G. Is it against rules to show the quantity of residue fuel such as required with UN 3363? (30 Jun 11)
A.
As stipulated in 8.1.6.9.2 Step 6. (d) 3., the gross weight must be entered for articles. After packing the internal combustion engine, the shipper must weigh the finished package and enter the gross weight followed with the letter G on the DGD as xxx kg G.

There is no need to show the quantity of residue fuel on the DGD.

Per paragraph (a) of Packing Instruction 950, the fuel tank must be drained as much as possible. There should be no residue fuel exceeding 1/4 of the fuel tank capacity. There is no need to show the amount of residue fuel.
