(Overpacks where some UN specification packaging Mar ings cannot be seen)
Q.
When an overpack contains both packages of which UN specification Mar ings can be seen and packages those which UN specification Mar ings cannot be seen, and the overpack does not carry the words: ?gINNER PACKAGES COMPLY WITH PRESCRIBED SPECIFICATIONS?h, would you reject the overpack as inadequate. (30 Nov 03)
A.
The intent of the words: ?gINNER PACKAGES COMPLY WITH PRESCRIBED SPECIFICATIONS?h is to certify that all packages inside the overpack are UN specification packages. If any one of the packages inside the overpack is not visible, this wording must be written on the outside of the overpack to assure that the shipper only used UN specification packages.
