(When the old form is prepared/signed by a person other than the shipper)
Q.
When the old form is prepared/signed by a person other than the shipper? (6 Jan 05)
A.
Related to Dangerous Goods Regulations 46th Edition of 2005 8.1.4.1 indicates that:?gPersons of organizations?iincluding consolidators, freight forwarders and IATA cargo agents?jemployed by the shipper to act on their behalf to undertake the shipper?fs responsibilities in the preparation of the consignment and trained as required by Subsection 1.5 May sign the Shipper?fs Dec aration for Dangerous Goods.?h As consequence, the new form no longer carry this restriction clause in the WARNING box found immediately below the airline logo. When using the old DGD form, and when a person other than the shipper is preparing and signing the Dec aration, this restriction clause must be deleted by drawing a line across the statement. If the shipper himself/herself is preparing and signing the DGD, there is no need to erase the restriction clause.

The Japan Air Freight Forwarders Association (JAFA) appears to be suggesting their members not to prepare and/or sign the Dec aration on behalf of the shippers as JAFA finds an issue with the terminology of?gemployed by the shipper?htherefore this matter is expected to cause no grave problem ?@
