(CAO and Passenger DG mixed in a Consolidation)
Q.
I have a question on a consolidation containing dangerous goods. Here is a consolidation with two house AWBs both of them containing dangerous goods. One house AWB carries a CAO dangerous goods, and the other house AWB is for a dangerous goods that can be loaded on a passenger aircraft. The Dec aration for the first house is a CAO DGD, but the other DGD is a Passenger/Cargo DGD. Is it permissible to have one Master AWB carry two types of DGD, one CAO and the other a Passenger/Cargo DG? (27 Feb 05)

DG Dec arations in a consolidation are made per each House AWB containing DG. If the shipment from Company ?gA?h carries a CAO DG, the Dec aration for that House must be a CAO DG, whereas the shipment from Company ?gB?h would be a Passenger/Cargo DG as his shipment can be loaded on a passenger aircraft. The Master AWB issued by the forwarder should show in the Handling Information box, ?gDangerous Goods as per attached DGD-CAO?h as one of the shipment is a CAO shipment. Per conditions of carriage, since all packages consisting a consolidation must travel on one single aircraft, this consolidation can only be shipped on CAO. For operational reasons, the carrier has the freedom as ?gcarrier?fs preference?h to split this shipment over two different aircraft.

From contractual reasons, the forwarder is not in a position to demand that the CAO shipment ride a freighter and the other Passenger/Cargo shipment ride a passenger aircraft. If the forwarder desires such loading, he would need to issue two MAWBs, one to cover the CAO shipment and the other to cover the Passenger/Cargo shipment. ?@
