(Selection of technical name to describe hazardous properties of UN3082 Environmentally hazardous substance, solid, n.o.s. ★)
Q.
There is a ★ symbol shown to complete the PSN of UN3082 Environmentally hazardous substance, solid, n.o.s. According to DGR 4.1.2.1 (d), we may replace the ★ symbol by adding the technical or chemical group name in brackets ( ) immediately following the PSN. Trade names must not be used.
Furthermore, SP A215 referred with UN3082 in the blue page gives us a choice of using the name shown in Column B of the DG List (blue pages) or a name which most appropriately describes the substance or mixture.

The UN3082 in question is a “Sealant” but the name of its chemical constituents is very long filling up two full lines, where the system has no such room to accommodate. Can we use the purpose of the mixture which is a “Sealant” for the technical name as UN3082 Environmentally hazardous substance, solid, n.o.s. (Sealant). Please advise.  (31 Dec 22)
A.
You have a choice. Of the 2-line long chemical group name, please determine which chemical group is the predominant substance responsible for the hazard. For instance, if the predominant chemical is “Bisphenol” please use that group name as the technical name. If the predominant chemical group has too many letters and the system cannot accommodate, then use “Sealant” in place of the technical name. It does describe the substance by determining the purpose of use.
