(We have a question on shock absorber (Gas Spring). )
Q.
We intend to forward Gas Spring (shock absorber) by air. It is not for wheel chairs or mobility aids. It is a stand alone item. Gas Springs would be classified as a type of shock absorber and SP A114 will be applicable. However, SP A69 which states in subparagraph 3) that when contents of mercury, gallium and other inert gas is limited to 100mg each and the total volume per package does not exceed 1g the device will not be subject to the Regulations when carried as cargo. However, in this case the total volume of nitrogen gas will exceed 100mg. Can we ignore SP A69 as long as we can satisfy SP A114? Kindly advise.  (31 Mar 22)
A.
Judging from all available information, we assume the Gas Spring shock absorber that you intend to ship would be classified as UN3164 Articles, pressurized pneumatic Division 2.2 and SP A48, A114 and A195 would apply. SP A69 is not indicated and furthermore SP A69 does not carry subparagraphs with numbers but only have subparagraphs (a) and (b). Kindly check whether you are looking at the 63rd Edition IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for Year 2022.
