(Question on Valuation charge.)
Q.
TACT Rules provides rule to follow on determining Valuation Charges in TACT Rules 3.2 where the local currency equivalent of 17 SDR and 22 SDR are shown. The explanation says the Valuation Charge is 0.75% of the declared value exceeding 17 SDR/kg or 22 SDR/kg, as the case may be. We re not sure which value should we use, e.g. 17 SDR or 22 SDR. Kindly clarify.  (31 Jan 22)
A.
Carrier’s liability for cargo lost, damaged or delayed has been set at 22 SDR per kilogram and this is clearly spelled out on the reverse side of the AWB in sub-paragraph 4 of the Conditions of Contract. Therefore, cargo irregularities will be addressed at 22 SDR per kilogram. 17 SDR had been discarded by IATA and the liability limit is now 22 SDR per kilogram regardless of which convention or protocol the subject cargo is being transported.
