(Question on Section II of PI965 and PI968 which is going to be removed per 2022 IATA DGR 63rd Edition.)
Q.
We make reference to the forthcoming changes in the 2022 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations 63rd Edition, where we understand the provisions of Section II will be totally removed from PI 965 and PI 968. Starting 1 Jan. 2022 all Section II of PI 965 and PI 968 will have to be transported as Section IB.
We have the following questions and would appreciate your guidance.
(1) Even for Section IB after 1 Jan 2022, we will need to apply three labels, i.e. Lithium Battery Class 9 Label, the CAO Label and the Lithium Battery Mark (7.1.C), or
(2) We will only have to apply two labels, i.e., Lithium Battery Class 9 Label and the CAO Label.
Appreciate your kind clarification.  (31 Oct 21)
A.
Although there is a grace period until 31 March 2022, effective 1 January 2022, the provisions of Section II of PI 965 and of PI 968 will be totally removed. All Section II must be transported as Section IB. Consequently you will need to apply Lithium Battery Mark (7.1.C) Class 9 Lithium Battery Label (7.3.X) and the CAO Label (7.4.B).

Just the Class 9 Lithium Battery label and the CAO label will not be enough, as you must also apply the Lithium Battery Mark (7.1.C) as it says in DGR 7.1.5.5.1.
