(A question on APIO of Radioactive Material of differing forms.)
Q.
Alhough I have so far not seen an APIO containing both Special Form and Other Form, the question is whether such a scenario is acceptable? Can a Radioactive Material Special Form UN3332 and a Radioactive Material Other Form UN2915 be loaded in the same All Packed in One (APIO) outer package Type A box? Kindly clarify?  (30 Jun 21)
A.
The answer is YES.

You can have an APIO consisting of Special Form and Other Form packed in one outer Type A package. Please refer to the formula with two adjoining Sigma formulae illustrated in DGR 10.3.11.4.3. The first Sigma shows the value of A1 (special form) as the denominator, thus ”B/A1” is the Q value calculation for Special Form. “B” being the activity of the loaded radiouclide same as “n1” of ”n1/M1” for common dangerous goods (refer 2.7.5.6 (e). The second Sigma shows the value of A2 (other form) as the denominator, thus ”C/A2” is the Q value calculation for Other Form. “C” being the activity of the loaded radionuclide other form.

This calculation is exactly alike the APIO formula for common dangerous goods shown in DGR 2.7.5.6 (e), only with the exception for radioactive material that you can add the calculated Q values of Special Fiorm and of Other Form, and you may load different form radionucide in the same outer packaging as long as the added total Q value does not exceed 1.
