(A PED powered by 100 Wh Li-ion battery is carried as checked baggage.)
Q.
A passenger wishes to carry four (4) Electronic devices powered by Li-ion battery as checked baggage, is there a limit in the number of devices he can take? I assume we need to check DGR 2.3.3.2, 2.3.4.7 and 2.3.5.8.
  1. DGR 2.3.3.2 states Spare Batteries not exceeding 2 may be carried, but there is no reference to the batteries that are installed in the device.

  2. DGR 2.3.4.7 does not specify any quantity limits.

  3. DGR 2.3.5.8 only states up to 15 PEDs are permitted per DGR 2.3.5.8.4 (c). Does this address PEDs using Li-ion batteries in excess of 100 Wh but not more than 160 Wh? Is my assumption correct?

A.
  1. DGR 2.3.3.2 addresses requirements on Spare Batteries and states the quantity limits for Spare Batteries.Up to 2 spare batteries of more than 100 Wh but not exceeding 160 Wh are permitted.

  2. DGR 2.3.4.7 refers to Electronic devices powered by Lithium Battery but no .quantity limitation is mentioned.

  3. DGR 2.3.5.8 refers to PEDs and Batteries as well as Spare Batteries. DGR 2.3.5.8.4 (a) 2 indicates Li-ion battery to be no more tha 100 Wh, and in (c), it indicates a quantity of 15 PEDs are permitted. Please take note that the Li-ion battery must be no more than 100 Wh.
