(Question on Overpacks of Radioactive Material.)
Q.
In DGR 10.7.3.4, for overpacks of Class 7, it only mentions about the contents and activity. If packages containing radioactive material are overpacked and all the labels and marks can not be seen, the shipper must reproduce them on the overpack. How about the Class 7 hazard labels? If RRY-II and RRY-III packages are overpacked, the shipper will reproduce both RRY-II and RRY-III labels on the overpack, The individual TI will be shown on each label.

However, if all the packages are RRY-II, how would the reproduced RRY-II label show on the overpack? Do I need to show the sum of the TI of all the RRY-II packages inside the overpack or do I need to reproduce each RRY-II label on the overpack?  (29 Feb 20)
A.
For Overpack markings of Radioactive Material, it is the same as ordinary dangerous goods. Markings are explained in 10.7.1.4 and Labels are explained in 10.7.3.4.

As detailed in 10.7.3.4, the “Contents” and “Activity” entries on the RadMat labels must bear the information as requested by 10.7.3.3.1 (Contents) and 10..7.3.3.2 (Activity) totaled together for the entire contents of the overpack. For overpacks containing mixed loads of packages containing different radionuclides such entries may read: “See Shipper’s Declaration”.

Labels for RRY-II and RRY-III must not be totaled. You may total multiple RRY-IIs together, and multiple RRY-IIIs together but you must not mix RRY-II and RRY-III. The sum of the TI for RRY-II packages must be shown on the combined RRY-II label. The sum of the TI for RRY-III packages must be shown on the combined RRY-III label.
