(What is a UN package coded with a letter “V” dealt in DGR 6.0.3.6.1?)
Q.
I refer to DGR 6.0.3.6.1 where it says, when a letter “V” follows the packaging code, this signifies a “Special Packaging” conforming to the requiements in 6.3.1.2. Why is it sometimes called “Super Pack”. I would like to know the meaning of the letter “V”. I am confused with the “V” packagings. Kindly explain.  (29 Feb 20)
A.
”V” packagings are very common DG packagings originated by American package companies and introduced to the market place branded as “SUPERPAK”. It is te Trade Name of the “V” packages and are widely used. Full details are spelled out in DGR 6.3.1.2 “Exemption from Testing”. DGR 6.3.1.2 details the various conditions where packagings may be assembled and transported without the need of testing the inner packagings.
