(Is the pressure mentioned in DGR 3.2.2.4.1 “gauge pressure” ?)
Q.
Please advise whether the term “pressure” written in DGR 3.2.2.4.1 Gases of Division 2.2, are not subject to these Regulations if they are transported at a “pressure” less than 200 kPa at 20℃ and are not liquefied or refrigerated liquefied gases. Is this 200 kPa pressure a “gauge pressure” or an “absolute pressure” ? (30 Apr 19)
A.
The 200 kPa pressure is “Absolute pressure”. Please refer to DGR 3.2.1.4 which reads:

“3.2.1.4 Pressures of all kinds relating to receptacles (such as test pressure, internal pressure, safety-valve opening pressure) are always indicated in gauge pressure (pressure in excess of atmospheric pressure), however, the vapor pressure of substances is always expressed in absolute pressure.”
