(A question on the use of Environmentally Hazardous Substance Mark.)
Q.
A shipment was tendered with a Environmentally Hazardous Substance Mark with a Red Color border line. DGR 7.1.5.3 Environmentally Hazardous Substance do not specify the color of the border line however Figure 7.1.B shows the border line in Black color. Please advise whether the EHS Mark can have either black or red border lines?  (31 Jan 19)
A.
The EHS Mark shown on DGR Figure 7.1.B with the black color border line is the correct ICAO/IATA Mark used for transportation. The Label with the red border line is a GHS (Globally Harmonized System) pictogram label used as a warning label to actual users of the substance that it has “Aquatic Toxicity” characteristics as demonstrated in the DGR Appendix B Figure B.4.A GHS Pictogramms and their criteria (last column). For transportation, please use the EHS Mark with the black color border line.
