(I have a question on applying the Lithium Battery Handling Mark.)
Q.
We intend to ship 3 packages under provisions of PI 967 using 1 AWB. One of the packages contain a device with lithium battery with 4 cells already installed. The other 2 packages only contain devices with no batteries. In this case, we understand that the Lithium Battery Handling Mark must be affixed. The Lithium Battery Handling Mark is only required on the first package containing a device with lithium battery already installed, and the required remark “Lithium ion batteries in compliance with Section II of PI 967” would be shown on the AWB for the first package. Please give us your advice.  (31 Oct 18)
A.
You will affix the “Lithium Battery Handling Mark” on the package containing a device which has the lithium battery already installed, and on the AWB, you will indicate “Case No. 1 – Lithium ion batteries in compliance with Section II of PI 967”. For the remaining 2 packages you must not affix the “Lithium Battery Handling Mark”. In order to avoid unwanted confusion, you may enter on the AWB, “Case Nos. 2 and 3 contain equipment only without any batteries.”
