(Why can?ft we mix LTD QTY, PAX and CAO when we do the Q calculation?)
Q.
By mixing LTD QTY, PAX and CAO packagings, we can easily arrive at a Q value of less than 1. Why can?ft we do it? (28 Feb 10)
A.
DGR 5.0.2.11 ?gDifferent Dangerous Goods Packed in One Outer Packaging?h states in subparagraph (e) that ?gthe outer packaging used are permitted by all the packing instructions applicable to each item of dangerous goods?h. The outer packaging for LTD QTY, PAX and CAO are all of differing specification and are not common with each other. Since they are not common, we cannot place the DGs in an outer packaging which is not common to all the dangerous goods that are to go into the same outer packaging. This is the reason why you cannot mix. LTD QTY must stick with LTD QTY, PAX must stick with PAX, and CAO must go together with CAO. They cannot be mixed.
