(What is the way to ship a fuel hose that still demonstrates a fuel smell?)
Q.
We have no doubt in handling aircraft parts that has a fuel residue as UN 3363 whether they are fuel pumps that has been removed from an aircraft. However, when it comes to Fuel Pipes with open ends, we question whether it can be shipped as non-dangerous goods or must it be still declared as UN 3363. There is utterly no fuel running out from both open ends, but there is still a smell of fuel. Please give us your advice.  (31 Jan 16)
A.
Fuel Hose or whatever, once they had been used, unless they have been thoroughly cleaned, vapors purged or refilled with non-dangerous goods and such actions are taken to nullify any hazards, they must be handled as UN 3363. There is no exception.
