(Is it permissible to print Dangerous Goods labels directly onto the outer packagings?)
Q.
Is it permitted to print Dangerous Goods labels directly onto the outer packagings instead of using labels? If the outer packaging is a cardboard box, the base color will be light brown. For instance, Class 9 labels are black bars on white background. When printed directly onto the cardboard box, the colors will be black bars on light brown background. Is this acceptable?  (31 Dec 15)
A.
When printing labels directly onto cardboard boxes, the base color may be light brown. However, red, green, blue, yellow and orange colors must be according to the color codes as specified in DGR 7.2.2.3.3. The dimensions and the design must be as indicated in DGR 7.2.2.3 Label Specifications. The design is specified in the samples shown in DGR 7.3 and 7.4. Specified labels must be used, or printed directly onto the package.
