There is an error in the Note of 2.3.4.7 which was newly inserted in the 56 Edition. The first sentence of the Note reads: “For spare lithium metal batteries with a lithium content exceeding 2 g and lithium ion batteries with a Watt-hour rating exceeding 160 Wh see 2.3.3.2. …” The 160 Wh printed here must be a mistake for 100 Wh as batteries in excess of 160 Wh are not permitted in baggage. You have sharp eyes. Yes, the 160 Wh is a printing error. It should be 100 Wh. So the sentence must be corrected to read: “For spare lithium metal batteries with a lithium content exceeding 2 g and lithium ion batteries with a Watt-hour rating exceeding 100 Wh see 2.3.3.2 …” I believe IATA will add this correction at the chance of an addendum.
