(SP A140 states it is not needed to show the technical name on the package. Is this mandatory?)
Q.
In reference to SP A140, must we interpret this to read “we must not enter the technical name on the package” or may we interpret it as a choice of either entering or not entering the technical name of the package? (30 Nov 14)
A.
It is not mandatory not to enter the technical name on the package. There is no need to reject the package when it shows the technical name. What is a “must” in this SP A140 is the entry of the words: “suspected Category A infectious substance” if the substance is suspected to contain Category A infectious substance. These words “must” be shown on the Declaration and is mandatory, however indicating these words on the package is not mandatory.
