(Question on DGR 2.3.2.4 Wheelchairs with Lithium Batteries. )
Q.
DGR 2.3.2.4 states for Wheelchairs with removable lithium batteries, the batteries must not exceed 300Wh or if fitted with two batteries for operation, each battery must not exceed 160Wh. What is the permissible battery capacity if the battery cannot be removed? What about for the batteries for other wheelchairs dealt in 2.3.2.2 and 2.3.2.3? (31 Jul 14)
A.
In all cases, with the Wheelchairs with non-removable lithium batteries (DGR 2.3.2.4), the Wheelchairs with batteries dealt in DGR 2.3.2.2 and with the Wheelchairs with batteries dealt in DGR 2.3.2.3, ICAO/IATA has not yet determined on the safe and acceptable limits of the batteries. ICAO/IATA is trying to establish a Wh limit that will provide sufficient power for the user.
