We have heard a rumor that lithium metal batteries would be banned from carriage on a passenger carrying aircraft. Is this true? If so, when will it become effective? (30 Apr 14)
A.
It is true that discussions are being made at ICAO levels. However, to come to a conclusion, there are further discussions to conclude and numerous procedures that must be completed. Whether it will be a total ban or whether it would be conditional still has to be ironed out. If there is going to be a change, it would probably be for 2015.
