(Cargo add-on rates to/from Japan has been removed from TACT Rates. How should we calculate cargo rates to/from Japan?)
Q.
Effective from the February 2014 issue of the TACT Rates Book, Australia and Japan had been removed from the Add-On Rates. How should we calculate rates to/from Australia and to/from Japan for points not listed in the TACT Rate Books? (28 Feb 14)
A.
Australia have freed all cargo rates to/from Australia, therefore, individual airline tariff will apply. Each individual airline has the freedom to set their own rates. As for Japan, add-on rates had been removed to answer the Fair Trade Commission’s ruling that rates are desirable not to be the same with all airlines. In order to calculate a rate to/from points not listed in the TACT Rates Book, you will need to combine the domestic rate of a given airline with the international cargo rate shown in the TACT Rates Book. If a Japanese domestic sector rate is printed in the TACT Rates Book, you can add such domestic sector rate with the international sector rate found in the TACT Rates Book.
