(Question on DGR 5.0.1.5.3 (c) and DGR 9.3.4.3)
Q.
With OVERPACKS of CAO labeled shipments, DGR 5.0.1.5.3 (c) carries 4-bullet hole exceptions. A similar 4-bullet hole exception also appears under DGR 9.3.4.3 Loading on Cargo Aircraft. Please clarify whether Classes 6, 7 and 9 May have sub-risk(s) or should they be genuine Class 6, 7 and 9 without any sub-risk? (30 Apr 10)
A.
With both DGR 5.0.1.5.3 (c) and DGR 9.3.4.3, Classes 6 and 7 May have a sub-risk. Class 9 would not normally carry any sub-risk. They do not have to be pure genuine Class 6, 7 or 9 substances. In DGR 51st Edition, Appendix H, H.9.3.4.3 you will find that effective 1 Jan ary 2011, this exemption will be relaxed to only Class 3, PG III other than those with a sub-risk for Class 8. Exceptions of Class 6, 7 and 9 stay status quo.
