(May we classify Hexanols with a Flash Point of 62℃ as not dangerous goods?)
Q.
Dangerous Goods List on DGR 4.2 shows Hexanols as UN 2282 Class 3 PG III. If the flash point under closed cup test is 62℃ and so verified per the MSDS, can we say that this substance is not dangerous goods?  (31 Oct 12)
A.
If under a closed cup test, the substance shows that the flash point is higher than 60℃, the substance does not fall under the criteria of flammable liquid. It is therefore not a dangerous goods. In order to avoid questioning and resultant delay of the shipment, it is advisable to enter the words “Not Restricted” on the AWB and also attach a copy of the MSDS to avoid unnecessary questioning.
