(Question on UN 3148 Water-reactive liquid, n.o.s.?? PG II)
Q.
UN 3148 Water-reactive liquid, n.o.s.?? PG II is shown on the blue pages as max 1L for PI 413. When you look into the yellow pages, PI 413 says you can use IP3 metal inner packagings and you can pack 2.5L. There is a disagreement here. Is this a printing error? (31 May 10)
A.
There is no error. Both figures are correct. The figures shown in the blue pages are the maximum per package, and the figures shown in the yellow pages are the maximum per inner packaging of a combination packaging.

In DGR 5.0.1.2 (c) it says: ?gfor all packagings, restrict the overall quantity per package to the limits specified in Columns H, J or L of the List of Dangerous Goods (as applicable) or to the design limit for the package whichever is more restrictive. In addition, for combination packaging, the quantity limit per inner packaging must not exceed the limits specified in the applicable packing instruction;?h

When transporting UN 3148 Water-reactive liquid, n.o.s.?? PG II by passenger aircraft, you can use PI 413 with a max limit of 1L. PI 413 says you can use IP3 and the max is 2.5L however you are limited to the smaller maximum of 1L per 5.0.1.2 (c).
