(I have a question on Flight Kit to be loaded on the aircraft.)
Q.
If oxygen cylinders are contained in a Flight Kit, thence is it acceptable to load it on the aircraft as aircraft equipment according to DGR 2.5.1.1 or as aircraft spares according to DGR 2.5.2.1? Also, what is the standards of the special container mentioned in DGR 2.5.2.1? (30 Jun 10)
A.
A Flight Kit is equipment that would not be loaded on the aircraft as cargo but would be equipment needed to be on board the aircraft to satisfy operational requirements.

It will fall under the description of ?gdangerous goods that are required in accordance with the operating regulations?h as mentioned in the last group of those stated in DGR 1.2.3.1 (f). They also fall under items which must be on board the aircraft for operational purposes as described in DGR 2.5.1.1.

DGR 2.5.2.1 explains about the procedures to be followed when new spare parts or aircraft equipment are shipped or when parts are removed from the aircraft for replacement and shipped to home base as cargo. They will have to be handled as dangerous goods, properly Dec ared and shipped as dangerous goods satisfying all the regulatory requirements.

However, when the shipper is the airline, such parts or equipment May be shipped in the containers specially designed for the parts. It will not be necessary to pack them into UN specification packagings. These containers specially designed for the parts mean those packagings used when the original parts were shipped from the manufacturer of the parts.
