(Will the airline reject a shipment of non dangerous goods packed in UN specification packagings?)
Q.
We have heard that the chances for airlines to reject a shipment is high when UN specification packagings are used for non-dangerous goods. Kindly advise how should we go about this issue. (30 Nov 11)
A.
The airlines wish to have the UN Specification Packaging Mar s to be obliterated to avoid unnecessary confusion. Whether it is a fibreboard box or a steel drum, simply apply masking tapes to obliterate the UN Specification Packaging Mar s. If you remove the tape, the 4G box or the 1A2 drums can be used as UN specification packaging. It May be advisable to enter the words ?gNot Restricted?h on the AWB however if you obliterate the UN Mar ing, there May be no need to enter those words.
