(How to handle DG labels already printed on a UN packaging.)
Q.
We intend to forward flammable liquid (Class 3) using a UN specification packaging. The UN packaging already carry a Class 3 hazard label. We intend to show name/address of shipper/consignee, UN number, PSN and quantity of the DG shipment, and all the required labels and marks on one side of the package. We would like to receive your advice on what to do with the Class 3 hazard label which is already shown. All required information are readily available from one side of the package where we have entered all the needed data. We do not want to be questioned by the airline at time of acceptance.  (31 May 23)
A.
I understand you are using a UN specification packaging, With UN specification packaging, the side which carries the UN specification mark is accepted as the front side of the packaging where all information can be obtained. All information are to be shown on this front side. Therefore, if the Class 3 hazard label is on the front side (I.e. the side where the UN specification mark is sown), then, you can use the Class 3 hazard label as is. If the Class 3 label is shown on other sides, it should be removed and you will enter all the shipping details using the front side where the UN specification mark appears.
