(Application of Lithium Battery Mark (DGR Figure 7.1.C))
Q.
We realize that the Lithium Battery Mark specified in DGR 7.1.C is not required for shipment of PI 965 Section IA. We have such a shipment in a UN 4G packaging pre-marked with the Lithium Battery Mark. As it says in DGR 7.1.1.(b) to remove all non-relevant marks, should we remove the Lithium Battery Mark or let it go as is. Would we be penalized of disobeying DGR 7.1.1.(b)? (31 Mar 23)
A.
As it is clearly explained in DGR 7.1.5.5.1, the Lithium Battery Mark (7.1.C) is not required for shipment of PI 965 Section IA. It clearly says to apply for shipments of PI 965 Section IB. if you bring the shipment over to the airline, they will have to deny acceptance since the Lithium Battery Mark indicates that tte content is Section IB whereas the document is stating that the shipment is Section IA. The Lithium Battery Mark is simply adding confusion resulting to a refusal of carriage due to incorrect marking. As said in DGR 7.1.1.(b) all non-relevant marks and labels are to be removed.
