Lithium ion batteries contained in equipment per PI 967 Section II are not “General Cargo”. UN 3481 have to satisfy all the conditions spelled out in PI 967 Section II. They are “conditional” cargo” and provided they satisfy all the conditions in PI 967 Section II, they are exempted from following some of the rules. The same applies to Lithium metal batteries (UN 3091) contained in equipment per PI 970 Section II.
